Challenges and concerns

Jarrad knew he wanted to invest in property as he had a deposit saved up and some equity in his owner occupied house in Sydney. However, he wasn’t too confident.

After the success of Jarrad’s first purchase, he began working towards purchasing a second investment property. Shortly after purchasing Jarrad realised that the rental income was covering all expenses and he was able to focus on saving and looking for another property.

Jarrad tenanted both properties as soon as they were available on the market. The house has also had quite a substantial rent increase since he purchased.

The Brisbane market continues to strengthen and both of Jarrad’s properties are positively geared with values beginning to increase. His first investment has increased approximately $100,000 based on local comparable sales.
